I found the sheet music to this song many years ago, fell in love with the sweeping melody and wistful text, and finally performed it with my wonderful friend @myohmyitsmila. Naples, Paestum, and Ischia visiting incredible Greek and Roman sites, eating, and surviving the hazy heat. We had to wake up at 6:30 to enjoy moving in space with slightly less heat—last pic is a good example of me around that time of morning (with a sweet palazzo ceiling). I got plenty of hydration, as well as nourishment for my belly and soul. I'm so grateful I get to sing @staatsoperberlin (again) and in this intriguing, hauntingly beautiful new opera- under the baton of the composer himself. SLEEPLESS is directed by Kornél Mondruczó (recently known for his film "Pieces of a Woman"), and the set and costume design are by Monika Pormale. We have four more performances in Berlin all starting at 7:30pm (and the opera is around 2 hours long). Tonight (Dec 3) and then December 7th, 9th, and 16th.
